VMU’s Faculty of Economics and Management Eduniversal award
This year the faculty of Economics and Management was evaluated as excellent business school by Eduniversal – international business ranking. FEM got 3 Palmes, which means that faculty is nationally strong and align with other 700 best business schools in the world.
This year the award of ranking was in Perth (Australia), where VMU Faculty of Economics and Management was represented by Dean Rita Bendaravičiene.
The aim of Eduniversal business universities’ ranking is objectively compare various business and management schools around the world. The ranking helps for students and academic staff choose university for studies and work as well. There are 1000 business schools from 154 countries all over the world, which are evaluated by Eduniversal ranking.
Professor Luigi Mittone visit in VMU
Prof. Luigi Mittone visited Vytautas Magnus University Faculty of Economics and management on January.
He had lectures with such topics as: Behavioral economics, expected utility theory, deviations from standard behavior in financial terms.
Professor was impressed about VMU FEM students: „I’m glad that the students are active. They have a great insights and questions. During the lecture, dialog becomes a great way to speak about economics. It helps remember information better“.
The Master of International economics double diploma lets study one year in Trento University. After studies, students get two independent diplomas: Vytautas Magnus University’s and University of Trento.
Prof. Pierre Semal visit in VMU FEM
Pierre Semal is professor in Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) who visits Vytautas Magnus university Faculty of economics management each year.
Faculty has double degree program with Université catholique de Louvain and professor P. Semal each spring has Supply Chain Management course for Master students.
The course has a high level of interest from students, because of different type of lectures and visits to companies, when students have an opportunity to see logistics process and management.
Prof. P. Semal was awarded VMU honorary doctoral regalia in 2013. He contributed to the development, establishment of the Baltic Management Institute (BMI) and strengthened relations with Vytautas Magnus University.
Double diploma studies – amazing opportunity
Vytautas Magnus university Faculty of Economics and management gives an opportunity for master students to get two independent diplomas in study program Marketing and International Commercial. Džiugas Petruškevičius – student of FEM shares his opinion about such studies.
Džiugas Petruškevičius spent half-year in South Korea with Erasmus+ program during hisbachelor studies. During that time he found a need to know more about Europe. “My decision was promoted by former Faculty of Economic and management dean prof. Pranas Žukauskas, who suggested to think about ability to study in the master’s double diploma program. So ultimately I decided that European Union capital Belgium – the best choice for my training”, – told Džiugas Petruškevičius.
Study exclusivity
Famous leaders from business companies come for teaching students in Catholic university of Leuven. For example, once lecture was read by Belgium minister of foreign affairs Diddy Reynders and former stock exchange president (CEO) Bruno Colmant.
Study benefit
Double diploma studies allow to get better perception about other countries’ problems. It becomes a great opportunity to see team work between different country students. After master’s double degree studies, students are able to adapt knowledge much easier to the constantly changing environmental, work between multinational companies and see how cultural differences might affect organization’s atmosphere.
„Round Table“ discussion with social partners
Vytautas Magnus university Faculty of Economic and managment (FEM) organized discussion „Round Table“ on December 9. There were requested more than 20 social partners, such as „FESTO“, „Stumbras“, „Volfas Engelman“, „Ernst & Young Baltic” and others.
FEM presented faculty activities, study programmes and business relations.
“Nowadays it is important to combine students’, business’ and university’s interests which help to work unanimously. It is important to train and prepare high qualification graduates. Students should be able theory adapt practically. Also, they have to rethink critically, it should help to choose the best received information.”, – said VMU FEM dean Rita Bendaravičienė.
Participants discussed about internships possibilities in their companies. It should be a compulsory training. Also, it might be a student’s voluntary initiative, which allows promote competitiveness and preparation in work after studies.
The discussion guests talked about international experience importance, which includes studies and internships through Erasmus+ programme. This type of studies improves social, self-confidence, negotiation skills, which are useful in work environment. It is important for students to know how to represent product, service, as well as ideas for their future employers.
At the end of meeting it was decided to continue discussion in smaller groups in order to achieve better and more valuable results.
VMU FEM – the best marketing studies in Lithuania
Each year the magazine of “Reitingai” presents the best universities’ programs rating. This year Vytautas Magnus university’s master studies in Marketing field was ranked as the best in Lithuania.
All bachelor study programs were ranked higher position than 2014 year in Vytautas Magnus university Faculty of Economic and management. Graduates’ employment after bachelor studies is about 88 percent. Master studies of Marketing were assessed the highest first position of all Lithuanian universities. According to Science and study monitoring center (MOSTA) analysis – employment is 100 percent after graduation Marketing master studies in Vytautas Magnus university.
General programs evaluation consists of: employment after graduation studies, average of salary, science publications number, state-funded PhD students.
VMU reinforce relations with business
Vytautas Magnus university‘s Faculty of Economics and Management initiated to start collaboration between VMU and the company Volfas Engelman. The agreement was signed in 23 October, 2015. This was one more step to strengthening the relations among university and business, as well as develop strategic partnership.
This collaboration is one of the best example, when Faculty of Economics and Management graduates come back to their Alma Mater in order to share experience with current students. The faculty gives an opportunity for students to develope their soft skills, have internship in various organizations and gain more experience in order to prepare for labor market.
The rector of university prof. habil. dr. Juozas Augutis said that these kind of agreements proves confidence from graduates that prefer to share their business success with Vytautas Magnus university.
New project among VMU Faculty of Economics and Management and Volfas Engelman called „Marketing Lab“ is a result of signed agreement. This project gives an opportunity for students to adopt the knowledge gained during their studies as well as analyze and solve real business market situations.
The project includes not only students, but lecturers from VMU and Volfas Engelman employees too. Students are going to develope the concept of new products and prepare market entering plans. The best ideas will be awarded by prizes established by Volfas Engelman.

Nasdaq Baltic anounces Baltic Market Awards winners
During the Baltic Market Awards gala event the best research paper competition results were announced. The first place was awarded to Eglė Alenevičiūtė, graduate of Vytautas Magnus University, Faculty of Economics anad Management, and Louvain Catholic University, Louvain School of Management, Double Degree master program in Finance and Banking and in Management. Her research paper „Co-movements of Financial Markets in EU Countries“ (adivisors prof. L.Iania and prof. K.Levišauskaitė) has received1000 Euros award. The award was presented by Nasdaq President, Nasdaq Baltic Market Vice-President Arminta Saladžienė.
The third place in the best research paper competition was awarded to Monika Kalinauskaitė for her research paper „Co-movements of Financial Markets in EU Countries“ (adivisors prof. L.Iania and prof. V.Darškuvienė). Monika is alsograduate of Vytautas Magnus University, Faculty of Economics anad Management, and Louvain Catholic University, Louvain School of Management, Double Degree master program in Finance.and Banking and in Management.
