Business Partnerships

VMU Faculty of Economics and Management (VMU FEM) is where academia, business, and young talent meet. Together with organizations, we develop solutions to real business and public sector challenges, educate future professionals, and help strengthen organizational competitiveness.

Why partner with VMU FEM?

  • You gain access to the expertise of researchers and practitioners in economics, finance, management, marketing, data analytics, and other fields.
  • You engage young talent—students and alumni—in real projects, naturally building a future talent pipeline.
  • You address specific organizational challenges using research and data, not just intuition.
  • You strengthen your employer brand among young people—within the university environment, at events, and across digital platforms.
  • You build a long-term partnership with a university that responds to your needs and can flexibly adapt collaboration formats.

Key areas of collaboration

Training and employee competence development

VMU FEM organizes and delivers training designed to enhance professional qualifications, build additional competencies, and develop general skills. Training topics and formats are tailored to the specific upskilling needs of an organization’s employees (from focused thematic workshops to long-term programmes).

Commissioned research and projects

Together with academic and teaching staff from the VMU Faculty of Economics and Management and other university faculties, we organize and carry out commissioned research and projects—both fundamental and applied. If needed, researchers from other Lithuanian or international higher education institutions can also be involved.

Research may cover market analysis, customer behavior, processes, organizational management, finance, innovation, and other analytical areas. Scope, methods, and the format of deliverables are agreed individually.

Consulting on business organization and management

Faculty experts provide consulting services on business organization and management topics. Consultations may relate to strategy development, reviewing organizational structure and processes, change management, marketing, financial management, employee development, and other organization-relevant areas.

Social partnership and joint projects

VMU FEM strengthens social partnerships with national and international public, private, and non-governmental organizations. Partnerships are built on mutual benefit: the university shares research outcomes, while organizations contribute practical experience, data, insights, and real-world challenges that can be solved together.

Possible collaboration formats

Collaboration formats are always tailored individually, but most often include the following:

  • Training and workshops. Targeted training programmes for employees, adapted to a specific sector, the organization’s situation, and goals.
  • Commissioned research. Faculty research teams conduct empirical studies on relevant topics and provide recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Student research papers and projects. Bachelor’s and Master’s students prepare research and final theses, case analyses, and projects based on topics relevant to organizations.
  • Innovation workshops and hackathons. Student teams, supported by faculty and organization representatives, generate and test new solutions and product/service ideas.
  • Participation in lectures and the study process. Organization representatives can deliver guest lectures, set tasks for students, host study visits, and contribute to practical study content.
  • Internship and job opportunities for students. The Faculty helps distribute internship and job openings, and organizations can attract motivated students and graduates.
  • Long-term partnerships and support funds. Longer-term joint projects are possible, including establishing scholarship or support funds to develop talent and expand research.

Benefits for your organization

  • The opportunity to solve relevant challenges based on structured research and academic expertise.
  • Access to young talent—potential future employees—whose competencies are shaped in line with real business needs.
  • Increased visibility and credibility within the academic community and among young people.
  • The opportunity to create innovations and test new ideas by involving students and researchers from different fields.
  • A stronger connection to the university ecosystem—events, networking, joint projects, and international initiatives.

How to start collaborating

The collaboration process typically starts with a conversation about your organization’s needs and goals. Based on this discussion, faculty representatives propose possible collaboration formats, prepare an initial activity plan, and assess the required resources.

Each project is unique, so scope, duration, participant composition, and the funding model are agreed individually.
